Gas emergencies

If you can smell gas, think you might have a leak or are concerned about carbon monoxide, immediately open all windows and doors, extinguish any naked flames (including cigarettes) and call the Gas Emergency Service free on 0800 111 999.

Electrical emergencies

Every region has its own network operator who looks after its electricity supply. If you have an electrical emergency or a power cut or any kind, you'll need to get in touch with your region's operator.

We've included a list of all uk operators below. You can find out which one is responsible for your property by finding your supply number. Your supply number is a unique reference which will be shown on your electricity bill and will look like the image below - we've highlighted the number you need in orange.
